"What Came First, The Chicken or The Egg?"

This is one of the oldest and most widely known philosophical questions in history. This question has puzzled philosophers, scientists and educated men for millennia. It is such a puzzle because the chicken cannot exits with out the egg and the egg cannot exist without the chicken. This is what is called a symbiotic relationship. In other words, one cannot exist with out the other.

Some scientists who profess The Theory of Evolution have come to the conclusion that the egg came first. They base their conclusion that, according to evolutionary science, eggs in general (not just chicken eggs) came before the first chicken. They do admit that the first chicken would have had to come before the first chicken egg though. However, you can see that they are interpreting the "egg" not as a chicken egg as most do, but the egg as a part of reproduction in animals.

As to be expected, those who profess Creation would inform you otherwise. They believe that the Word of God is clear on this matter. In the Book of Genesis we read:

"Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:24-25)

"Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to [g]Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name." (Genesis 2:19)

We can see from the above scripture that God created all of the land dwelling animals out of the dust of the earth just like he would also later create man  (see Genesis 2:7).

Did God's creation have an appearance of age at creation?  Did God create infant animals and seedlings or did he create fully mature animals capable of reproducing and plants that already had mature fruit on them or seeds within them? We can find this answer in the first two chapters of the Book of Genesis, where we read:

"Then God said, 'Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.' So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.  And God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.'" (Genesis 2:20-22)

"And God said, 'See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.  Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food'; and it was so.  Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good." (Genesis 1:29-31)

Because we know that the Theory of Evolution is a lie and Creation is the truth, the answer to that age old question is clear. Next time someone asks you, "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" You can confidently answer CHICKEN! If they ask you, "Where did the chicken come from then?" The correct response would be that God created the chicken, as well as all other land dwelling animals, out of the dust of the earth.
